Manila, AUGUST 21 (Sugod.com) – UAAP season 74 football championship will start on January 2012 with six University teams battle for the coveted trophy.
University of the Philippines fighting maroons were crowned champions of the previous season after their 2-1 finals victory over University of Santo Tomas growling tigers. Goals from Ayi Aryee and Jinggoy Valmayor in the 31st and 51st minute set the tone of the match and won them the championship. OJ Clarino was given a late consolation in the 60th minute.
The reigning UAAP champs topped the elimination round with nine wins, and a single draw. An unbeaten record that clearly put them ahead before the final rounds. It was UP’s third trophy of the 18 year old university football championships.
UAAP Season 74 is hosted by Ateneo de Manila University.
